Teacher: Mrs. Ahktar
My name is Mrs Akhtar and I am the Reception Class teacher at Andalusia Academy, (I am also the proud parent of a student in Year 5). My journey here began all the way back in 2008, when I started as a volunteer with hardly any experience of working with children. I quickly learnt that educating and nurturing children was my vocation and I have been here ever since! Whilst here I undertook and completed a level 2 and then a level 3 in Supporting and Teaching in Schools Diploma. I took on the role as a LSA in Key stage 2 first before moving to the Reception class.
While working in this role I was encouraged and supported by AAB to complete a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. I acquired my qualified teacher status in 2017 and I am currently undertaking my newly qualified year this academic year as the class teacher. It certainly has been an eventful journey from when I first volunteered for a few hours a week!
I believe that children learn through play and so I aim to offer learning experiences which are fun, stimulating, creative and "hands-on", whilst providing a broad and balanced curriculum. I see every day as a new adventure and enjoy arranging trips, visitors and activities to inspire and motivate the children and above all make learning FUN!
